| The $5,000 Summer Trail got off to a good start at Falls Lake with 24 boats showing up to qualify for the Championship scheduled for August 27th at Jordan Lake. The bite was a little off for Falls probably due to a front that came in the night before. Just 65 bass were weighed in for a total of 174 pounds. The anglers did a great job keeping their fish alive with the latter day heat being close to 90 degrees! Water temps averaged 83 to 85 and air temps ranged from 68 to 90 with winds ranging from light to 10 mph in the afternoon. Big fish for the day was 6.72 lbs. and another was close at 6.47 lbs. Jonathan Guins of Wendell & Kenny Allen of Raleigh, won with 5 bass weighing 20.23 lbs! Guins and Allen used a combination of jigs, crankbaits & C-Rigs to make up their creel. The bass they caught early in the day were in 8 feet of water and as the day went on the bass moved to 14 feet of water. The $5,000 Summer Trail qualifier #2 will be Saturday, July 9th at Falls Lake out of Ledge Rock Ramp.
