June 18th, 2011 ~ Falls Lake ~ Ledge Rock Ramp
PBC $5,000 Bass Trail Championship

The weather was beautiful! A little hot in the afternoon but with Ridgecrest Baptist Church, from Durham,
providing cold drinks, hot dogs and hamburgers, the crowd kept their cool. 46 out of the 47 teams that
qualified for the Championship showed up to try and win the $5,000 1st place prize package. 161 bass
were weighed in for a total of 492 pounds. The anglers did a great job keeping their fish alive with the
latter day heat being close to 100 degrees! Water temps averaged 83 to 85 and air temps ranged from 68
to 97 with winds ranging from light to 10 mph in the afternoon. Big fish for the day was 7.72 lbs. and
another was close at 7.02 lbs. Only 5.53 pounds separated 1st place and 9th place! It was a close race!

Todd Gibson, from Archdale, and Mark Bayse, from Thomasville, conquered the field with 5 bass weighing
24.80 lbs! Gibson and Bayse used a combination of jigs, crankbaits & C-Rigs to make up their creel. The
bass they caught early in the day were in 8 feet of water and as the day went on the bass moved to 14 feet
of water. Mark Herndon, from Bahama, and Jay Garrard, from Durham, won the points championship! Our
congratulations go out to both great teams!
